So hear lately my winch is sounding really bad and it jumps around a lot while running it in. Anyone no if it can be pulled apart and cleaned? Dident want to just pull it apart without knowing what I was gonna get into. Lol. Noticed it when I put my new rope on it this week.

I have never done it, but I have heard from some other guys.  Sometimes part of the housing can be warped and/or cleaning and re-lubing the gear box can make a difference.

Maybe this will help all models are similar in many ways.

I found a video about disassembly and cleaning the insides of the winch and putting it back into service, I don't no what size yours was but a lot of models are simular.

i had a warn rt2500 i had the jumping. took it apart and it was the little pins that turn it to free spool were rounded off and would let the gear in there slip buy. wich wore down the dear some making it slip more and more. now u can turn that gear around and use the splines on the other side with new pins and it should work fine. i now have the rt400 and i just have never used the free spool part but ive never had to go out farther than 15 foot. hope that helps.

Found out why this happens this fall on mine. The cap on the end that houses the pins, and you turn to go from winch to free spool will actually warp, pulling the pins out far enough to cause it to do this, or to just completely not even grab at all. a new cap is what fixed it, or if you have this happen in the field, push the cap into the housing and it will help the pins grab better.
