| Well I am trying to get my secondary off to clean up my grease mess (See my other thread about chattering) and I can't get this damn thing to come loose. I don't know what the hell happened. I have used 2 electric impacts and air impact, torch (gotta be careful about melting the fan). You guys got any idea? I even had a friend who is a mechanic try....he said he has never seen anything like it. I has it off prior to my 'grease incident' and put it on normally. I did use an impact but not real hard.
Guess I'm gonna have to heat the crap out of it and buy a new fan. I'm open for suggestions.

| I have had to use a cold chisel to get them off if the impact gun wont do it. Buy a new nut. | |

| I had the same issue, even put 220psi of nitrogen on a 3/4 and nothing. so I cut the nut off with a dremel very carefully and got a new nut from James. I have had it off a couple times since with no issues. My thought is the nut fused with the cheap ass metal on the fan | |

Mine's asn 08. I have never had any prob with the secondary ; but , I've had to cut the primary off twice !!...one time was my fault...NEVER NEVER use any thread-locker on them !!!

| Well I got that rat bastard nut off. Had to use a dremel on it but it finally broke loose. What a pain. As an added bonus not only had the previous owner installed a JBS Sheave but I also found out I have the purple spring on the secondary..whoot.
Funny thing was I had it apart a few weeks ago and didn't even notice. I was even thinking of getting one.
Now I just have to wait for my parts to get here from WV.

| While I have everything apart waiting on my new clutch, I figured I'd do a simple service on the secondary sheave. I removed it with no drama (thankfully). I then watched James' video on using one of the wheels to compress the spring while loosening the nut with an impact wrench. VERY nice idea.
My problem - where do you get a 1-13/16" socket? Are they available for a for a 1/2" drive?
Can I use a crescent wrench or channel locks once I get the spring compressed?

| You may be able to do it with pliers , or channel locks , if you have some help. Really no need to buy a "high-dollar" socket...I use an el-cheapo 3/4 drive with a reducer to 1/2. | |
