| 2009 700FI, camo DU, 1500miles, 236hours, 2in lift, 30" Mud Lites XXL Had the sheave kit for a week plus, but things kept coming up preventing me from starting the project. Decided to try it after work today, started at 4pm, finished about 8pm. Between chasing tools, running inside for video instruction updates, it went smooth enough. Except I couldn't get the secondary spring off with the tire method! Didn't expect that, heck I weigh 210 but couldn't even budge it. I really wanted to do the servicing, guess I'll do it next time with a homemade compressor from the threads here I just discovered. Per James' suggestion, I'm now running his greased sheave, 18gr weights, new OEM belt, and stock spring. I was very careful installing that sheave properly on the shaft, and it went on much easier than I thought. The other hiccup was when I started to remove the many small screws holding the cap on the old sheave, I freaked out when I almost stripped the first one. Turns out my phillips bit was not quite the perfect fit. Was very careful with screwdriver, and they all came out ok. And I spent 1/3 of the time fighting with the sheet metal and bracing, getting all that lined up and bolted back together. Buttoned everything up under the lights, and rode around the small back yard for a whole 30 yards or so, everything works fine, no strange noises, and I can definitely tell the difference. No hesitation, very smooth. Looking forward to trail riding with the 30" Mud Lite XXL tires recently installed. Should be a great combo now! Nothing like the first time! Next service attempt will go much quicker ! Thanks James for all the vids ! (ps: I'm the one who needs that missing Yamalube tub when you get more...thanks for the ziplock of grease! Also need about 10 of those ridiculous plastic screw/expanding anchor thingys. ) | |

| I hope you mean 14g weights and not 18s. If you told James you were running 30s on it, he would have sent you the 14s I bet. If not, you need the lighter weights with those tires. Anyway, you are gonna like it, and maybe even love it after you get that spring in there. The 1st spring I changed using the wheel as James said, I couldn't compress it while taking it apart. I just put my whole 190 on it and took the nut off, nothing bad happened. When I put the new spring on, I compressed it with no trouble and it was stiffer than the stock one. Made no cense to me, but that's how it went. Congrats on one of the best mods you can make! | |

| Thx all. No CDI here, 18gr is what the carton said, thx James for confirming. I had discussed this with him, my riding style is low and slow, hardly ever going to go wide open, or maintain high rpms. Probably wouldn't be a good idea as its pretty tall now. I picked up some free rear spacers from the dealer recently, but haven't put them on yet, not sure if I will. Might cause new tire rubbing issues, and also hate to have mud slinging all over me with wider tires. I sure wish I had places to ride out the back door like some of you, especially in the hills. I love to bowhunt deer with trad gear, and would be after them nonstop, LOL. Next project later is going to be some nice switch panels like ChrisH, for my Rhino, boat, and 4runner. | |

I never even thought about that. It would really pull those tires with the cdi and lighter weights, but it sure would make some noise. Speaking of making noise. We are getting used to the high revs with the 16s and exhaust tip, but I don't think the neighbors are. LOL | |

| I made the same mistake with the spring. After a phone call to the hot rod he told me the spring won't compress due to the way the washer sits on it. Anti-friction washers are in sheave serviced and now I need go fast parts. Thanks again to James for his tolerating my newbie questions. | |

| All the talk here convinced me to order a sheave kit from James this week as well, looking forward to the upgrade. Doing my springtime routine of pulling off my tracks and putting the tires on as well as a service so I figured it was time for the upgrade. Hopefully will keep me close to my brothers new Deere 835. | |
