PostSubject: Blue Smoke   Blue Smoke Icon_minitimeSun Apr 07, 2013 10:43 pm

I have been working on trying to get airbox moved under hood area. Had the box relocated, with the crankcase vent tube ported into the intake tube. port was through a pvc connector piece that bridged the intake tube and the carr mcmaster flex pipe to the airbox under the hood. I am not the best with my maintenance discipline so since I was in the general area, I checked the oil. It did not register on the tiny dipstick so I commenced to administering oil. Unfortunately, I overfilled it. I put the dipstick back in place and figured all would be fine since it didn't even register before it would probably be happy. Took for a test ride and it was spitting copious amounts of oil into the intake. I realize this is normal, however, since I relocated the airbox, it was not spitting the oil before the filter. I believe that a decent amount of oil has been introduced into the intake. It started smoking blue. I figured it was the crankcase introducing the oil into the system, so I decided to abandon the airbox under the hood and put it back to the stock location hoping that the oil might burn off, and then all would be back to square one. I ran it a pretty good lap around my woods and came back, the smoke did not cease. I opened the airbox and it the bottom was filled with oil and a very large spot on the pre filter sock was soaked and the KandN filter have a spot about the size of my fist that was soaked. I drained some of the oil out of the case, but at this point i was getting frustrated and was really thinking it might be more fun to roll it off a cliff instead of trying anything positive.

So here is my question/s
1. Is it possible to introduce oil into the intake/head/cylinder through the carb?

2. If so, will it ever burn off and stop smoking or do I have to do something to clean out the oil?

3. Am I just being naive, and did my top end just go out and the perfect time making me think that I introduced oil into the system?

It runs fine, just looks like a mosquito sprayer and it's obvious that oil is burning...don't know if its excess or what though...

Try cleaning your air filter and box. Install a Siphon Break for your crankcase breather.
