PostSubject: My review of the JBS sheave kit   Sat Apr 20, 2013 12:46 am

I installed a JBS sheave kit tonight which consisted of a machined sheave, anti friction washers, 14g weights, sliders, orange spring a beer koozie and a sticker. Im pretty sure I paid for the beer koozie and the sicker and everything else was free.

I didnt get any pictures because i was crunched for time and a greasy mess ...suffer through it.

Installation is straight forward with just following James videos or if you have done it before its pretty quick. I did the whole thing in just over an hour. All the parts fit perfect and i didnt have any issues with fitment.

First thing i did was take it out on the street and run it up and see what it would do. I didnt bother to GPS it as it was really cold and getting dark quick. It ran up to speed great and it was running MUCH lower RPM's when it got up to around its top speed. It no longer sounded like you were pushing the Rhino FAR beyond what you should just to eek out a couple more mph.

My next was was to run it through a short trail behind my house. Part of it is marsh and part is good hard packed trail. We have had ALOT of rain the last couple days so everything is wet wet wet. First thing i noticed was the Rhino didnt need to have it neck wrung to get the tires to spin up. At about half the RMP's is when the power comes in and you get USABLE power. because it was so wet i could slide that back end like no other...it was huge fun. it was just THROWING two big rooster tails of grass and mud.

The thing that amazes me is that at 1/4 throttle it is very tame...not wild and tough to control. Then when you pop it just a little...and i mean just a little...you are rewarded with power. Im convinced that now with this i am able to use the torque that the big single cylinder puts out. That is the beauty of a big single and why we put up with the shakes from the thing. We have on tap torque that can be used to chew up the earth and shoot it out the back like a tree hugging hippy who has been living on tofu and is now thrust into a diet spicy Mexican and Indian food.

The only probly I see now is that i need more traction. At least in the wet grass i need more traction. I have a ride scheduled for tomorrow afternoon/evening and i will let you guys know how it does then. But I purely expect it to function great and to rip the earth up and leave small chunks in my wake.

Once you get the JBS hook in you, you never get off hooked for life. But I guess that's not such a bad thang.

I would actually love to do that....i have a different way of looking at the world and its generally a comical way. If anyone has an "IN" with something like that i would be all for testing and writing reviews. Even if no money is involved i would be glad to do it.

Ill write up a full review tomorrow when I have a bit of time. I got out an played in some water and some 45 degree hills there were about 100 feet long so a good long pull for the rhino. The thing did great. I even had a guy say "I would never ride one of those because they are slow and not any fun. You will never get me off of my quad". Then by the end of the night he was asking if I would sell it to him and saying he was going to get one because it was more fun than his quad.
