ADJUSTING VALVES

finally fired my engine up today after rebuild.

I went from stock cam to mudbuster so needless to say when i went to adjust valves there was no play at all in either intake or exhaust valves because of bigger cam. So i set the engine at TDC on what i thought was compression stroke. The intake valves were opening at TDC. Did i do that right???? i adjusted the valve lash at TDC per the manual specs.

after starting it sounds like my valves are extremely loose tapping bad.
do the intake or exhaust valves open on the compression stroke??

If i did set the valves up correct and they are still slapping that bad is there something else i may have done wrong??

i will be double checking valves tomorrow just hoping someone might have some advice if it sounds like i did everything right???

I think that TDC intake & exhaust should be closed

Rotate the crank until the piston is at TDC with all the valves closed, that's where you set the clearance.

made same mistake the first time I adjusted the valves

I figured it out I had adjusted them on the wrong stroke first time
