| From what I'm hearing, 120 hp. 18" wheel travel. 64" wide and 10" longer. Should be a handful to drive. | |

| I have been following this on the RZR forums. It looks interesting. I enjoy new tech and new releases. First, it's funny to hear the boys crying about their depreciated 900 RZRs, second, it's exciting to read all the reactions. There have been some serious machines released in the past 12 months, machines with serious price tags. I'm not one to moan about cash for a toy because I have some coin tied up in my Rhino, but the buy-in price is close to $20K for the latest and greatest. By the time you do tires, wheels, winch, and a few other things, you got a fair chunk of cash in your garage. And who could forget the $60K diesel 4x4 truck to pull it?
I can't hang with those boys... LoL I have a family to feed! Haha!
Just remember as all these new wild SxS are released, it all started with a Rhino 660 which you could buy for under $10,000. My how the times have changed.

My how the times have changed. you should be a carpenter cause you hit that nail on the head! I paid 9500.00 out the door for my 2007 rhino in 2008. there is no way I could go out today and buy a new sxs with having 2 kids under age 5. i was wondering how some guys have brand 60k trucks, 20k sxs, 300k house etc and still have money left for gas in each. then i asked a buddy who has it all how he does it. his answer credit.....lol.... F that! i have a mortgage and a home equity loan that's it. im looking out for my future. social security is not gonna be around when i get to that point and im self employed so i don't have a pension to look forward to. plus i want to be sure my kids are well off through out there life. my old little 660 rhino will do everything that 1000 rzr will do with the exception of hitting 70 mph.

If i won the lottery i MIGHT buy it but even then im not sure i would. I dont owe for any of my cars, my rhino, and no credit cards....ill be happy not being a slave to a credit company and pay off my house in the next 10 years or so and then im all good to go.

| To each there own fellas. Some people just love showing how much money they can blow on a toy and other just want to be top dog as much as possible. Riding style and manufacturing preference is a key player too. They could be jumping ship for power, suspension, comfort or just wanna see how fuzzy there nuts are when they pull on side of u.
Just remember, we always come home under our own power 99% of the time. And I'll keep pulling them can-nots and poooooolarissssss home every ride. I'm praying with fingers and toes crossed that Yamaha steps up.

| The cool thing about new releases in the powersports industry is that it gets people thinking philosophically, which I personally love. How's that for geek? lol
New releases push envelopes. And, being that powersports is a luxury item for most people, the pushed envelope asks people to consider just what it is that beckons them to the hobby. Why did I get into this in the first place? Why should I use a [sometimes] sizable portion of my income for this vehicle? Why should I invest my time maintaining, repairing, and modifying this luxury purchase? This lastest crop of "unlimited class" UTVs with 1000cc engines, over a foot of wheel travel, and $17,000-$20,000 MSRPs truly beg this question. People get their panties in a wad. Some love it. Some hate it. I believe it all has to to with these basic philosophical questions.
Take for instance the original RZR 800. When the RZR was released, people questioned a SxS vehicle with no bed and not real hitch, "What will I use this for besides going fast," they asked. Now the RZR has been the icon of the sport SxS industry segment similar to how the Yamaha Rhino is considered the father of the modern SxS industry as we know it. Funny how the market and bleeding edge of technology ended up gravitating toward that segment.
Then it happened again when what I call the unlimited or open class of SxS emerged with the Polaris RZR 900XP, the Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 and 1000X, and the Can-Am Maverick 1000. Again, people were stunned at the lack of fender coverage, their extreme 64" width, and even loftier price tags. The people buy them; oh, they buy them as fast as they can make them. They buy them to ride in the dunes, and they buy them to ride in the mud. It doesn't matter. They buy them. So the manufacturers continue to push the envelope.
Special models with limited features, better suspensions, tires, bead lock wheels, factory-installed doors and radios and winches and GPS devices. Vehicles like the Polaris RZR 900 H.O. Jagged X and the Can-Am Commander 1000 Limited are born. And even with price tags of $20,000 MSRP or more (in the case of Jagged X), you guessed it, people buy them.
So now, with this new Polaris RZR 1000, we see the envelope pushed again. I mean, today is July 17 and the vehicle is supposed to be officially released on July 29- all we have is one leaked side photo of the RZR still in the crate, and people are thinking about things. What if this new RZR is actually 72" wide like the rumors say? What if it actually cost $25,000 like the rumors say? What if it actually has through-the-bed shock hoops and 18" of suspension travel?
Then the philosophizing starts. Can it be that people would actually pay $25,000 for a toy? Can it be that people could actually drive a vehicle that wide down the trails? Do I really need that much suspension?
Perspective is nice.
Many of us started out on primitive machines. I started off in the powersports world on a 1982 Honda 200 three wheeler. No suspension except balloon tires, no electric start, and no reverse gear in the transmission. How many of you have similar stories? I would have literally shit a brick to see my Rhino in 1994. Then my dad would have shit another brick to hear how much money it took to buy and build that Rhino sitting in front of him.
This new RZR 1000 is a good thing. If for no other reason, it will further spur competition. Do you honestly think Can-Am is going to take this lying down? Yamaha might even step up to the plate one of these years. Arctic Cat seems to have a vested interest in this market as well. So, yeah, I readily greet the new tech.
Now, do I want to try and afford it...

| My brother in law has a RZR 800 and he's into it for over 20k... and he beaaaaats the living sh*t out of it. It's quite fun to watch actually.
I prefer to not beat my Rhino as badly so I don't end up wrenching on it after every ride.
Once he sees this RZR 1000 he's gonna cream. I'm betting his will end up getting traded in. LOL

| I like the new stuff , caned hams , rzr,s , cats , ( Viking ) not , make u think that Yamaha would want some of that market some day . as far as money when I bought my rhino used for 5500. motor work , clutch work , header & pipe , carb intake work an much more still to come , like next my stock shocks are not good enough now so here goes another chuck of money , I still like my rhino but when you look at the money I 've put in an the time to , an still need more done to really compete I can see them spending the money up front , an having HP, good ground clearance , good suspension an more , my 2 cents worth | |

| I would love to have a machine with a 1000cc engine, more travel, fuel inj,but I cant afford it right now, besides I have a shitload of money in my rhino...and after 5 years of working on it to get it the way I want it...im going to keep it a few more years and enjoy it and spend my money on going riding whenever I can.when my son gets older and moves out I hope Yamaha has something to offer.....that's about 5 more years from now and I will be 54 years old then,so I will be wanting something that rides good, comfortable seats, power steering, efi, and atleast 100 rwhp!!!and bighorn tires!! | |

| I like my Rhino just fine, and I'am not making any excuses for owning it, it carries alot of stuff that other people can't, throw a buck in the back, blaze a new trail straight through the bush,no problem. I would like a few more ponies but I bought a Rhino and now what I have. | |
