I  think like 46 -ish  without a cdi...... and  sound ,50  with a  cdi... correct me if I'm wrong

When my 660 was all stock it would do 42 on the rev limiter,is your speed display in the KPH instead of MPH setting?

its in MPH, if it was kph that would be even worse......

It should be faster...  Does it seem like you are getting to the governer or rev-limiter?  Sometimes a roller will flop over on install and the sheaves don't close all the way.  Grease on the belt is another possiblity.  If you are at all interested in top speed you should look at the CDI.  I got the MSD charge and JBS sheave for my 660, now I hit the rev-limiter at 54mph.

if you watch the video i posted it just seems to fall on its face around 29 then takes a bit  to get to 35 and won't go past it .... it all went toegether like it should and the motor doesn't cut out like it is the rev-limiter, cleaned the face of all sheaves and made sure not to get any on the belt.  could it be something with the secondary not the jbs...?  the bottom end is crazy i power brake a little then let off and the damn thing goes sideways in the dirt..    im not lookin for top speed but it would be nice to go better than 35

From the videos it looks like the top speed was 35 MPH both before and after the sheave install, is that right?  Has it ever been faster then 35?  I am really reaching here, but have you checked the speedo against a GPS?  Are you running heavy tires?

down hill i hit 38 with my buddy in it with me i just didn't choose to post that video, and my buddy that was in the passenger seat in the before video is 6'5 350 lbs.  i shot the second "after" video by myself on level road..  have not checked the speedo against a gps just traffic in the area and i don't pull away and the speed limit is 35 and i am flooring it the whole video.  tires are stock size but are the ITP baja cross x/d.   25x10x12 rear    25x8x12 front

Somethings definetly wrong. I hot 44 in our 660 with just the sheave, and it gets there pretty well.
Heres a 700 showing before and after.

Vern your machine should do 40 MPH right out of the box no mods at all.

If this speedo was in KPH it would read 60-66 top speed.

I think the last owner swapped the 700 for a 450.

I checked my TPS  and it's in check 17 and 95   95  is the best I can get with adjustment.

does it have a new oem belt...does it use oil

brand new oem  yamaha belt,  Just  changed the oil  not sure I have only put 50  miles on it since the oil change....

a stock 700 will do 41...add our sheave and it will do 48-50 add a cdi to that and it will do 53-54 on level and 61-62 on a downhill.......you have something wrong...maybe wet clutch too....air filter clean??

wet  clutch looked good when I  slugged it,  it looked  ok but I could pull it off and see if anything changes...  would  thesecondary sheave have anything to do with it?

From the pics it looks like your belt is riding low on your secondary. It should be 1/8" above the secondary if I have my info correct. I pulled my cvt covers off both my 660 and 700 and the belts are 1/8" above the secondary sheave. Not sure if that's your problem but I don't believe that is the way your belt should ride.

what would cause it to to ride low?   and what does the secondary do

u need to pull the belt cover off and rev the engine up and see if the belt is coming to the top of the primary,if not,u need to pull the primary off again and see if anything is out of place or broken inside.seen this happen twice and the problem was inside the primary...od flipped over or guide busted out.

The secondary controls how much tension is on the belt via the spring,and when it shifts out..each spring changes how long you ride in a lower gear,the springs go up in tension from blue,orange,purple,gold.

I will try and check it tonight,  its all new inside... jbs  sheave,  camplate , sliders,  and od  weights..  belt only has a few miles on it
