| I have been debating doing a 686 build on my engine with a stage 2 cam (not for sure on the cam but thats beside the point). But my real concern is that dreaded middle drive gear! Im not real easy on my rhino, I maintain it well but i play hard with it and work it pretty hard from time to time also. I dont want to get the whole thing done and then blow the middle drive gear up and REALLY be up a creek without a paddle. So my question is will the middle drive gear hold up to a 686 build and me? Reliability is a big thing for me but seeing how my Rhino has become bloated and fat (4 seater, half doors and so on) It has lost some of that snappiness. Plus we all want more power LOL. Just a question.
Also how much are we talking about to fix the middle drive gear problem (assuming its not broken and im just upgrading). And how long would it take me to do it about????

| I think the support is under $200 you can ask James. When he built my motor I had it done since it was getting a new crank.
For that little money if do it. Cases are a lot more then that it you break it

| all the ones i seen break was because the bolts backed out from factory...i use red loc tite on every bolt inside the motor and stress to all my customers about doing the same..it will cost you if you dont...i have a yellow and white marker i mark the bolts with after i torque them too...dont get in a hurry...have enough time to double check yourself..loctite..loctite ..loctite | |

| My rhino is apart right now geting a 686 10.1 piston ported head an stage 2 cam im not doing the middle drive gear upgrade at this point im not real hard on my rhino so im hoping it will hold up the rest of my riding season when the snow flys ill be pulling the motor an adding a stroker crank an middle drive plate ive heard of some people with 686 kits not having a problem with the middle drive gear an others have broke so i would say it all in how you use it or as james said if the factory bolts dont back out . | |

| I have heard of stock bikes having the middle support let go , so may be more of what James said about bolts getting lose than the motor build the one I saw was busted so bad I thought middle support broke | |

| mine has held together this long so I guess it must be ok.....but that doesn't mean I shouldn't fix it while im in there. is the middle drive plate the only thing I need when do that? no extra gaskets or anything? anyone have a rough estimate of the extra time to do it? not that it really matters...just curious | |
