Open air box ok?

So I'm trying the options for less noise on my ride. I removed the factory snorkel put a screen over the air box inlet, stuffed the hole in the motor box and taped it up. Is it ok to let it take in the air right in the motor box? I thought I'd try this before going full snorkel to the front and dealing with possible re-jetting which I know nothing about.

lined motor box with 250 degree reflective wrap. Hope motor don't get to hot

I used spray adhesive and put thick carpet padding on bed front behind seats

I ran more carpet padding under both seats. I made sure it didn't get close to anything that gets hot.

I have only did a run down the street so don't know full affect yet.
at idle it's much quieter but when I open it up I wasn't that impressed but we'll see
seems nothing can tame the roar when going fast.

just will be hot air going in would be better to get the cooler air , will also make your filter get dirty much faster. the other thing is be careful around water don't want to swamp your air box . the snorkel will help with the noise in cab
