| I have a 2008 Rhino 700. It has the black Rhino ignition module and JBS sheave. All of the maintenance has been done (clean air filter, new plug, etc.) it has about 3200 miles
During my last 3 rides the power just all of the sudden cuts out for a moment or two. the only thing that i can relate it to typically it happens when tank is at half full mark. Otherwise no established pattern and runs good. I did some research and it looks like that it can be fuel pump or the ignition module?? can it be the valves that are out of adjustment?
If i disconnect the black rhino module, will my top spedd be limited to 40mph again?
Thanks | |

So James you are saying if I remove the module and back to stock ignition I should still be able to do 48 - 50?
thanks

| You will never hit 48-50 mph stock, could be hitting the default RPM in the module, usually around 8000. Stock 41 mph, CDI with other sheave 60 mph, CDI with JBS sheave 53 mph (better low and mid range). Never hit the rev limiter when set at 8000 rpm, the fasted I ever went was 61 down a hill, limiter set at 8500 rpm adv timing.

| I thought on a 700 with JBS sheave You could hit 48 to 50 without aftermarket CDI.
AZZX is it only on very top end ?

| If its only at a half a tank make sure the fuel pick up and the hose in the tank is not broken. | |

| I have had two problems with the fuel pump relay, works fine then suddenly would bog and sometimes even stall, replaced it no more trouble with that. If it stalls when stopped turn on the key and listen for the fuel pump to cycle, if there is silence maybe the relay is at fault, always check your connections for any looseness or green corrosion. | |

| Might be a good idea to replace your fuel lines. With clear so you can see what is going on in your fuel circuit. | |

| OK - I did order the gasket for the fule pump. any special conciderations when I remove the fuel pump from the gas tank? If there is gunk and dirt in the tank, what is the best way to deal with it? I also ordered the fuel pump relay.
Thank you for your input

| Once the fuel is out,if its dirt or rust clean with a rag, oily gunk or something petrol based brake cleaner on a rag should handle it. | |

the parts (gasket for the pump) will not make it until next week. If i remove the pump from the tank, can I re-use the gasket again?

| Update:
Sr. James is correct, my Rhino runs 46 – 48MPH without the black rhino module – you must have the JBS Sheeve however.
I removed the ignition module and it looks like the “cutting out” issue is cured. I had 3 rides each around 60 miles and no issues.
I did remove the fuel pump, it all looked OK there. However, my gas gauge is now stuck showing Full, regardless how much is in the tank.
I did muck with the float arm a bit and bent it a little (it was too pessimistic and went to empty by 50 miles).
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks | |

| The sending unit is a variable resistor when the arm is moved the resistance changes. On a car if the tank is low the resistance measurement on a DVOM OHMs scale would read about 200-210 Ohms empty, 20-25 Ohms full if the unit is OK then your readings should be similar. Glad to hear your cutting out seems to be fixed. | |

| It would all depend on the damage done,if you can carefully reshape the arm and the contacts are not scraped off they're bed,you maybe able to get it working properly. | |

Thanks Update, few handred more miles without the Black Rhino Ignition Module and no problems. So the issue was with the BRP 700-DIS module. Question: can the module be repaired or just toss it out? Thanks

| Update
I sent the controller to Dynatek and they tested it. It was defective and they could not fix it.
They sold me a new one (at cost). I installed it and I think I have a different problem.
Above 45 MPH or so, the bike runs kind of ratty, no hesitation or stumble, it just takes forever for it to get to 50MPH and feels like either starving for fuel or choking. Engine sounds different. It feels like I have less power past mid range.
No error codes, new plug, air cleaner is clean.
I know this is not exactly scientific way of describing the problem.
Any ideas? | |

| Sounds like you may need to try a different controller, other than Black Rhino. | |
