| What oil are you guys running? Its time to change it in the Rhino. I would rather pick it up local than order in something heavy like that due to shipping cost. Im more concerned about the wet clutch also because i think the previous owner put car oil in there ......would the wet clutch be ok if i put the right oil in this time around or is replacing the (original) wet clutch the best idea? | |

| Are you having problems with the wet clutch? Use OEM Yamaha Lube. Then you don't have to worry about putting the wrong stuff in there and damaging the heart. | |

| I stick with Yama lube and change the oil every 300-500 miles depending on how hard I drive it. no problems with motor or wet clutch so far! | |

Its tough to say if im having problems with it or not really....It doesnt feel like its launching as hard...but that could just be me. Plus im going to be doing a sheave soon and i know its just more strain on the wet clutch with that anyway.

| Chuddly, If you're doing a primary sheave replacement or just service job on the sheave you're 3/4 of the way into the wet clutch. The wet clutch sets behind the primary sheave, so just go a head and pull the wet clutch out and inspect it. Drain all the oil prior to pulling the clutch, as it's bathed in an oil bath. Not sure if you've been that deep into the clutch system, but it's not a big issue to pull it apart and check it out. I've done it and I'm a (2) on the mechanic scale. | |

| When you start throttling up the bike does it want to move or does it take throttle to start to move? If you give it a little throttle and the bike wants to move the clutch shouldn't be slipping. I hear if you run the wrong weight of oil the clutch can slip because of the viscosity of the oil. Not sure if it might glaze over the shoes, if so you could use some fine grade sandpaper and knock the glaze off the shoes. Hope that helps. I hear ya on tearing into the Rhino. That's all I've been doing all winter. But I should have it dialed in for the summer. | |

any good motorcycle oil designed for wet clutch compatibility will work fine. i use amsoil synthetic motorcycle 10w-40 now and will switch to 20W-50 in the summer when it gets really hot. let it warm up before you drain it and let it drain thoroughly after removing/replacing oil filter. how many miles/hours do you have on yours?

how many miles/hours do you have on yours? No idea how many hours are on it....the previous owner didnt know either. Kenny- It does take a bit of throttle to get it to move...but that could be the oil i suppose...or it could be a worn wet clutch. The story i got was the last owner bought it from the origional owner It looks like neither one were to hip on doing maintenence. The guy i bought it from said the tires on it were the original ones but who knows. They are like 50% worn so that would tell me it would be VERY low hours....but the rest of the machine says otherwise.

| I've been using catstrol jasa ma approved oil, I was running some redline synthetic oil which is great stuff but 15 bucks a quart. I'll keep running Castrol until I figure out whether or not I am burning oil or if the siphon break fixed my problem of losing oil. | |
