Boston terror

I don't understand what terrorist are trying to accomplish by cowardly killing random innocent people. Who would think that people watching a marathon would be the target of terrorists. I can sort of understand their logic when they attack government facilities but WTF would make them attack a croud at a marathon? I'd like to drag them s.o.bs thru that marathon route behind my Rhino.
