| Spent 5 days riding the Alpine Loop in Colorado. We stayed in Lake city. We will be riding the Loop Aug 11 thru 15th this year and staying in Ouray. There are nmore than one pass there at over 13K. This is the best trail ride you will ever do...We rent canoins or homes from VRBO..best deal ever. | |

Where are you staying in Ouray? I agree VRBO is awesome! We have also used it for Lake City and Mountain Village/ Telluride area.

| We are staying at the "Stone House" in Ouray. Although we loved the cabin we rented in Lake City and the great access to the Loop, we just wanted to try somewhere different. next time, we'll stay in Silverton, then Telluride. We're taking two couples who haven't been there before..they are in for a treat! | |

| I keep telling everyone The Alpine Loop is a must do! Your friends are going to love it? Make sure to take them to Black Bear Pass on Red Mountain. That's the trail were I decided to convert my brakes to 4 wheel brakes.
Our last trip we stayed in Mountain Village and rode the complete loop all the way from Telluride to Ophir to Ouray to Lake City to Silverton and back to Telluride. 128 miles in one day!
Take lots of pics to post and let me know how your accommodations are in Ouray. We have been debating staying in Ouray or Silverton just for a change.

| Ok thanks, I did the loop last year and camped a couple miles in from Lake City. I went around the loop and had to ride through Lake City to get back. I got some dirty looks. Did you guys ever get in trouble driving in town? | |

| No, I only had to do it once..probably for the same reason you did...came back on thye other side of town. My Rhino is street legal in Utah but I don't think they brecognize it as such in Colorado though. I took the chance. | |

Driving through town on Highway 149, from Henson Creek to Lake San Cristobal. I call and talk to the sheriff in the counties I'm going to be riding in, tell them my rhino is street legal in AZ. They say no problem, just obey the traffic laws. The sheriff Ron in Hinsdale County is one of the coolest guys I've met. He invited me to come see him when we got into town, so I did. He gives me his card with all his phone numbers on it and says call if I need anything, day or nite! Needless to say, I go say HI to Ron whenever we are in Lake City! VRBO stands for vacation rentals by owner. We rent a badass two story log cabin home from a guy named Brian from Chicago in Lake City. He uses the house mostly in the winter for cross country skiing. Never, we ride the rhinos all over town. I'm just respectful of their little peice of paradise. It's just for that reason I am running a stock exhaust with slight mods. I don't want to be heard! The same goes for Mountain Village, Telluride, Purgatory, Ouray and Silverton, never had an issuea. We have even had Highway Patrol men wave to us on Highway 550 on our way to Black Bear Pass.

| We are wanting to go back this year. That cabin looks sweet! I am running muzzy's, may need to get the wisper cores. I do not have plates for my rhinos. So do you ride from the cabin? | |

If your not street legal I don't suggest riding on the streets. Their are staging areas at both ends with plenty of room for trucks and trailers. Yes, we ride the rhinos everywhere. But we are street legal. The cabin has lots of room for trailers and vehicles. Their are bears! Don't leave food outside at night!
