| Pretty catchy topic, right?. so yesturday was the first time i road a 2013 800 rzr s and i must say really not all its cracked up to be, yes it may ride a little better on the bumps but as far as power it has good power but not what i was expecting to be i was expecting neck breaking whip lash like power . and honestly with the work ive done to the rhino there not much difference in bottom and mid . i never got to top speed im sure it will go alittle fast on top then the ol rhino but in to woods i dont see that being a big deal. now i just have to conevince my buddy that after market parts are a waste on money on that rzr. that would make the difference. | |

| The stock RZR S 800 blows a stock Rhino out of the water. The problem is that we've all upgraded and modded our Rhinos and forgot how terribly slow they are in stock form. It's not very hard to get our Rhinos to keep up with the stock 800 but as soon as they throw the same mods we have into the RZR they leave us in the dust again. | |

As a former popo owner you are correct. Except we don't have to wrench on the rhino after every ride.

| everytime i go out in mine i am totally blown away by how well it's built. i TRY to beat the hell out of it and it continues to impress me with its durability. all i ever do after a ride is rinse it off and try to get most of the mud off. these things are built like a tank. | |

| Never said they were better built...just said they were faster. You'll notice I'm on the Rhino forum not the RZR forum :-) | |

| Just don't ride a 900xp. Then you really see where they shine. But I'll keep my rhino | |

| Like others have said, a stock Rhino 700 is dog slow compared to a stock RZR-S 800. I drag raced my B-I-L stock for stock when we first got out machines. This is coming from a Yamaha boy, I love the Rhino but it wasn't even a race. Even up to the Rhino's factory 40MPH limiter, it gets blown away. Now when you get them in the woods, the Rhino can carve pretty good if you are a decent driver and possibly do even better than a RZR. I am a sucky driver so I could never turn faster laps through our little course but then again it's not real tight woods either... Luckily the Rhino responds beautifully to mods, and like was said above, we on the message boards and forums tend to not have stock machines. Most every member on this forum has a Rhino that runs faster and stronger than stock. And this is what makes the Rhino big fun. If you pump about $1000-$1500 into a Rhino 700, you will have a Rhino that'll match a RZR in a drag race, and possibly beat him depending on the tires of each machine. The biggest problem with the Rhino is its high purchase price when bought new. A top of the line Rhino 700 stickers for about $13,000. To get up to RZR like speed you need a sheave ($300), a cam ($200), MSD ($350), and exhaust ($400 for alba or $700 for muzzy). After those mods, you'll have the power and speed but then be in the Rhino for over $14,000. A stock RZR-S LE (top of the line) stickers for right at $14,000. So is it worth it? That's a personal question the owner and buyer has to ask. And whether you can turn your own wrenches. I can do a lot of things myself so that makes it easier but if I had to pay my shop's going rate of $80/hr then I might have to re-think my path. My pop always gives me grief about modding my Rhino. He said I should have bought a RZR or a Can-Am if I wanted to go fast. I tell him that is true; I could have done that. But then I'd be stuck with a funky 4WD system, no engine braking, too big and wide, no ground clearance, questionable quality, etc. I liked everything else about the Rhino 700 except the power. That was an easy fix once I got connected with JBS and Alba! The Can-Am guys are thirsting for a real 4WD system. Heck, I was reading just yesterday on the CommanderForums how a few guys manned up saying that they got stuck right where a Rhino went before them simply because the Rhino has a real locking front differential. They may have 82HP but they can only put it down to three wheels. That is a deal breaker for some environments. I also read on the RZRForums. Those guys are forever posting horror stories of dusted motors due to poorly sealed air filters and sagging springs and broken axles and no engine braking and a 4WD system that is only in 4WD when it is slipping?!? With my Rhino, I can fix slow. You can't fix stupid. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Rhino is not perfect. None of the UTVs are perfect. You gotta go with what fits you. And if you want to build a beast, you gotta pick what you think is the best platform to build off. If you ask most of us here, the Rhino makes a fine platform to build a monster, or it makes a fine utility vehicle and hunting buggy and mud bogger. | |

| Exactly right Chris. If you want a stock bike, you need those. You want something that you can play with and see your upgrades used, you know to go!!! | |

| The rzr s I had was alot of fun for 200-300 miles at a time, then it was a nightmare. I don't care if I get outran as long as I can go home and wash it instead of working on it for a whole day so I can ride three more times. I grew to hate the company known as Polaris because it was obvious to me that they don't care at all about giving us a long lasting machine for what they cost.
As far as doing the same mods to a rzr that we do to a rhino to make them hang with one, if you put a cdi and cams in a rzr, you better do some work to the crank or it will go boom. I done my research on modding the S when I had it, but every time I got some money saved up it was time for bushings, and balljoints again. For some, the maintenance is worth it. Not for me.
My rhino vs the S I had....The S was a little faster through the turns on gravel and big smooth dirt roads. On the rougher, tighter, and slicker trails, the rhino owns it's ass.

| I have never even driven a RZR....Im sure they would be fun. But the reason i got my Rhino is because it is versatile. I can take the rear seat out and have a dump bed that will hold more than a deck of cards. If i wanted a smoother ride with better suspension i could go long travel (my trails wont really allow for it because they are tight). Power wise I dont really NEED more power. Would I like to have more...yes ...but i dont need it. Indiana is generally tight wooded trails so flat out speed doesnt help me much here. Plus as others have said the Rhino is built tough so i can work it and wheel it and then take it home and wash it and im good to go. It came down to that I wanted a machine that could work and play and the Rhino fits that bill to a T. | |

| I wouldn't trade my Rhino for any of them, it's the smallest SXS with a useable bed, will last forever. My BIL's Rzr on the other hand which we bought them the same has been less than trouble free, and I ride mine as hard as needed ;-) lol. I have looked at the Commanders because of the extra room, and the two level bed. I am a little worried about reliability. But with 4 kids I've gotta add another to the list anyways, but I think I'll wait and see if Yamaha is gonna step it up. | |
