Top Speed reduction

Good Morning Guys,

I am relatively new to owning a rhino so I need some input, advice, hell,... even yell at me I don't care as long as I get this thing fixed. I have a 08 700 and I love it, I bought it with a machined sheave and cdi from dyantech. I had read on post that these can fail apparently. So here's the issue. Last year I actually hit 60 mph in it, granted that was ripping down a road on a slight decline, but I used to frequently hit the low 50's around 53-54mph. I took her out only a few times this year and have noticed a reduction in speed. I am not getting over 50, hitting near 47-48 mph . I haven't changed anything at all since last year besides wheel bearings, tie rod ends. I ride in the Adirondacks so I do hit mud frequently, I've always washed her down afterwards and even remove the radiator frequently.

I am about to put on some sweet new tires I picked up (GBC Grim Reapers ) so I expect a slight reduction when they're on because they're heavier. Is there something I can do maintenance wise that will fix the issue? I know I need to change my erl but am I missing anything else. I have seen James' videos about greasing sheaves, do I need to do this yearly? I am at a loss as to what to do. I am pretty mechanical so I would much rather do the stuff myself if you think it is relatively easy. I remember reading a post from James and he stated "If I can do it, you can do it" so this is the mentality that I am going into this with.

Any advice, suggestions, tips, jokes or harassment are welcome and I appreciate any incite you guys can offer.

yep...service the clutchs and put a new belt if needed

when you check your sheave for grease and servicing. make sure the weights didnt flatten out if you have round weights... Also, whats our milage?? Wet clutch sounds like it might need a changing if you are losing top speed ... My two cents only......

x2 on the clutch servicing. If you've been in deep water and mud could be some packed in there.

So I did a clutch service, cleaned everything and re-greased. Also threw a new belt in it, rear a arm bushings, both front lower a arms and bushings and an alignment and new tires. Doing the clutch is easy, it is getting to it that is more of a PITA. Watching James' video helped out, I also had a friend who also owns an 08 700 give me a hand.

I think I am back to where I used to be. I have hit low 50's again, I think with the extra weight on the tires is where I am losing it now. Thank you all for the help and responses. Much appreciated.
