| I am in process of rebuilding my 660.
where the cam rides on the head and valve cover is no longer polished shiny and smooth like I think it should be. same goes for my cam not longer polished shiny and smooth. if i re-use this head i will likely buy a new cam to run in it it if that will make a difference.
Is this OK to re-install or should i find another head that has polished and shiny surfaces
thanks for any advice or suggestions

| Can you snap a few pictures and post them up? Since there are no cam bearings and the surfaces are matched to the cam cap/cover it can be a problem. If you can feel the scratches with your finger it is likely bad. Unfortunately since the back side of the cam is a blind hole you can not line bore all the way through like you can on some heads.

Nate Alba Racing Nate, there are not any scratches, you cannot feel anything not even a lip or high spot where anything is worn down. it just looks like you went over it with very fine sandpaper (metal shavings from wet clutch) and dulled the polished finish. What do you think?? I was planning to re-use it with a new cam. thanks Kyle

| I had the same problem with my wet clutch so I'm waiting to see what nate says. I know i need new valve seals so when i am putting them in I might put a new cam in | |

| You can use some fine scotchbrite to clean it up a bit. When using the scotchbrite only make passes in the direction of rotation.
