| I have an 08 700. JBS sheeve, 18g od weights, 26" zillas and other than that it is stock, Thinking it might be time to replace the stock secondary spring (have 4500 miles) we ride mostly trails but also hit the mud, i would like to keep the top end about where it is (50 mph approx) or higher, but was wondering what spring would work best for my needs, i have read the EPI orange it close to stock, but the purple is a good choice also..just looking for some advice. thanks. | |

| I have the same machine with 25" ,I have a purple spring,47-48 on the dirt. You will need to add a cdi to reach 50MPH. | |

| I feel that the trans has a slightly lower gear and I really feel the engine brake more at low speed I mean off idle, and I feel mid range power is slightly better. | |

| James was thinking of changing my purple back to stock when he built my rhino. (his 1st 2012 build) I was screaming NO after riding it. Even if it would give me 2mph, there is no way I would switch back. This thing is a bad mofo when you get back in the gas, and on a nasty hill in high range. On the dirt roads I feel like it's reving more than I like, but when I slam the throttle down, I know to leave this thing alone. I told him I wanted it clutched to be fast on the trails and that's what I got. | |

| I think the orange is more agressive than the purple. Seems like the purple is one step up from the stock spring. I could be wrong though. Weights change things alot, but I know the purple does really well with tall 25s and 26" tires with heavier aftermarket wheels. It seems to me that changing the spring is like changing gears in the rearend of a car, and the weights are like changing converters in a auto trans in a car. | |

I think you will like the purple. I'm not the best one to give advice on this because I only drove mine all stock with stock tires, then with cam, 18s, and the stock spring. When James got my cdi in, he put the 16s and purple spring in. I can't compare it to another because of the other things that we changed, but it runs strong up hills and out of the corners. I would never want anything more agressive, but like I said, I'm running 16s so it revs quick. I'm running 25" bighorns, they measure a true 25-25 1/4" tall depending on psi. I'm on the stock sport wheels. | |

| By aggressive do you mean it revs high before engaging? | |

| if i understand it correctly, stronger springs (gold) slow the upshift (higher rpm) and improve the backshift. softer springs (purple) increase the upshift (lower rpm) and slow the backshift. it fine tunes according to the way you ride... | |

| i know it's off topic, but i've been looking at the way polaris clutches work. holy shit! there are an awful lot of parts to maintain on theirs. the yamaha is 10x easier to maintain & service | |
