do you have anything performance wise done to your 6.0? I have the blue spring upgrade in the fuel regulator and the FICM Just rebuilt and flashed with an upgraded program for performance. The 6.0 is a strong motor with some piss poor engineering. First the fuel injectors are driven by high pressure oil which has inherent problems during cold weather, are expensive and usually wind up being replaced every 75,000 to 100,000 miles. They also decided to engineer it with an EGR system which is the dumbest idea you could imagine. Diesel exhaust does not need to be reintroduced into the intake. You're just asking for trouble. The EGR coolers they designed where prone to failure which would allow coolant into the intake and could lead to blown head gaskets. The oil cooler is located under the intake and has small passages which are prone to plugging over time leading to high oil temps. These are just a few of the issues. Once you learn how to properly maintain them they are a strong running engine.

| Congrats on the truck! You found a good one. The 2002 7.3 is the best one made. It has a really good crankshaft in it. | |

| Thanks guys I really appreciate the reply's. I got to drive her a little today after I got my permit. Its got everything I could ask for with the lariat package. I'll make a video pretty soon. The only thing wrong with it right now is the actuators in the door locks and There is a rattling noise in the front passenger side, I think its a shock or maybe sway bar end link any suggestions? | |

- Nice truck, Grasshopper ! And yes the receiver is 3in. so You can use a bigger hitch. They do make an adapter to make it normal size. Wish You was closer, I have an 2 adapters laying right here beside my desk You could have.
Thanks Larry I will probably buy a 3 in hitch. I was pretty impressed when I saw that. It will come in handy for the bobcat and dump trailer. - 08Rhino450SE wrote:

The rattle you're hearing , is the sway bar link(s)...my 02 has 81k on it ; and , I have had to replace both sides . Very common issue for theese trucks.

| Grab the links where they are attached to the bar and move them up and down, the bushings can be checked by grabbing the bar near the bracket if there is movement replace them. Older momo beam front axles have a different style link but can easily be adapted to the newer design. | |

He didn't have a trailer he just needed a bed is what I got out of it. He only put 12,000 miles on the truck total. He's getting shipped out to Georgia and needed to sell it. He owed 14,200. I'm extremely happy with the deal and I could use the airbags for the dump trailer and hailing the bobcat. I don't know about the previous oener though. The truck is very clean and rust free. I measured the hitch today and its a 2 1/2 inch , I can get the insert for 20 bucks at our local truck and trailer shop.

| If you throw away the ford oil filter cap and install an after market filter cap one instead, you will probably pay more for your oil filter. You may end up with a cold start oil problem with a 6.0l,one litre of oil at least is retained in the filter and reservoir under the intake, if the oil drains out overnight because of the design it can cause hard start until the oil is refilled by the low pressure pump to supply the high pressure pump. You need 500psi of ICP which is very quick to build if the reservoir is full. We sell ford oil filters for about $16.00 | |
