Rhino 450 to 660 Empty
PostSubject: Rhino 450 to 660   Rhino 450 to 660 Icon_minitimeSun Oct 20, 2013 10:09 pm

Ok I know the 450 is no power house so I want to upgrade mine. I would like to just drop a larger yamaha engine in it. The 660 or 700. So my question is which engine would be the easiest swap? I would think the 660 but would I need a while setup? Would my electrical work and just need engine and carb? I would do a 686 before installing with other mods. I've thought about going to a rzr or ranger but I just love my rhino!! Any help would be great!!

Hey Clembone, How is hunting season going for you? The rebuild Mike did for you not what you needed? I've looked into the 660 swap and it sounds like it can be done with minimum modifications. What I've studied up onĀ it's best to get the complete motor, carb, wiring harness, CVT cover, shifter linkage, & one comment said get the engine cover also. Sounded like collect everything from the cover down and the wiring harness that will plug into the 450 chassis plugins. Just what I've read upon.

There was a guy on the rf site that did this. I think his name was blackbird.?? May want to look over there for some info. You will need a exhaust also.

Our season starts next weekend and I'll be at Iron horse mud ranch in Perry Fl!!! The rhino is running great! Mike did excellent work and it's been very reliable as always. As we all know it's still a 450 and my best friend bought him a new xp. No I'm not looking to hang with him on wide open runs but more power in the trails and mud would be awesome!! Sounds like I may be in the market for a whole new rhino and modify it. It would be nice to keep my 4 seat cage and other bolt ons. Do have approval from wife to by another ride and give her rhino. Maybe yamaha will come out with something I like better but I love the rhino being sporty but useful side by side!! Think whatever yamaha comes up with will have to choose a rzr style or ranger style and I'll have to keep my best of both worlds.
