| well I got to take a decent ride this week after having my motor built to a 686 stage 1 raptor cam an ported head put about 70 miles on it an I must say the thing is an animal thru the woods now 50+mph thru the woods quickly also installed a temp gauge so I always know what temp its running (stays around 175-180 with the spal fan an shroud I installed aswell) haven't toped it out yet, still breaking it in but it gets up to speed a lot faster an has a lot more seat of the pants power. need to do a little more tuning but so far it runs strong an goes awesome. but im not done yet as soon as the trials close around here its getting torn down again to get a stroker crank an middle drive plate this thing is a addiction an I cant stop | |

| My .02 Get billet middle drive plate in fast as possible. I did 686, cam and sheave thinking no way i would break middle drive, I don't drive hard at all. Wrong! The changes you made already producing 1 1/2 times stock power at least. Replacing both cases, gears and bearings over not buying $100.00 part will make you sorry. | |

| You folks with the built motors ........ What did you have to do if anything as far as radiator and axles go?? Also type of gas you are having to use?? Hope this winter to put it on a trailer and haul it to James for a massage!! | |

| I have a 686 built by James. My stock rad seems to be doing just fine but I did add a little bit of a back up with an oil cooler. I'm convinced that the oil cooler saved my motor when a rad hose came off and it ran for probably 5 mins with no water.
As far as gas goes, if you run high compression you will need high octane. I run stock comp. so I can run any gas. | |
