| I'm considering a dual setup or completely different battery. What's the recommendations. I seen a few smaller batteries that claim to have great life with high cranking amps as well but I was leaning more towards an optima to run everything. Just didn't know if the charging system would keep up or be harmed trying to charge it. I have a 2009 700 all stock.
Reason for this is I'm planning an amp on my radio soon and want a bigger amp soon if things go good.

| The Odyssey PC925 is probably the most popular and highest rated UTV battery.
I run a Deka AGM, which has been great, but I do run a dual battery setup !
2 cents worth ! | |

| I would try a dual set up but the isolator is the part I'm worried about. Hate to dunk it and it start having issues. | |

| I use the Sure Power 1315. So far no problem. It is mounted high enough to keep it out of the creeks, but not near high enough to keep it away from the pressure washer ! lol
A guy could get by with a single good battery, I'm just paranoid and over kill everything !

| Funny story... My friend bought a new RZR saturday, he brought it to my house to ride it saturday nite. We took it up on the hill rode it a while then decided to stop and build a fire. He left his radio on & ran the battery dead. We had to push it a little & coast some till we got back down the hill where we could get some cables & jump it. It has a very small battery. He caught hell over the polaris the rest of the nite when some friends showed up. He was even told to "get used to it". Again... it was his first day and he had to push it & jump it, Funny shit. It looks good though... | |

| I'm still cranking out amps on the OEM battery on my 2006. Hope she keeps spinning the starter for a couple more years. It has ever acted like it was weak, even in the cold of winter she has plenty of power. | |

The original battery in my 2004 lasted for 6 or 7 years. It seems to be the winter layovers that do the most harm.

Good info! You can run dual batteries without an isolator. People do it every day. Just be careful when one of them goes bad. The bad battery can cause the good battery to discharge at an explosive rate !!! And if this happens, do NOT try to pull the cable off with Your bare hand ! It can scar for life.

Agreed. I actually had this happen to my diesel pickup with a paralleled battery stock setup. The only way you can stop this is to disconnect one of the cables from the battery that is not spewing it's guts out. And, yes, the cables get very hot! It is a scarey thing when it is happening.

My dads duramax battery's went out about 2 years ago, luckily no problems on reinstalling them, now that I read this we would have had to find out the hard way.

| Batteries can fail in all sorts of ways. One of those ways is to develop a shorted cell, which is not the most common failure mode. So it does not happen very often, but.... The healthy battery in the paralleled set then feeds all that it can into this shorted cell and that bad cell (or cells) gets very hot. Many hundreds of Amps can flow through the circuit until the good battery is depleted. | |
