| is there such thing as to much air ? ive got to a 2" snorkle ran up . so heres the deal i git the air fuel gauge on and working i got the idle good ran it everything was pretty close to 13 - 14 . i took the bike for a ride about 10 miles in the ride is was still good on idle but about quarter throttle 10 mph it would shoot up to about 19 and pop anf care on . when ut started to pop i could floor it and it would stop popping and take off mid and top was reading 13.5. so i took some tape and cover half the snorklr up and the idle when down ti 8 but the bike was running good through quarter mid and top. | |

| Did you do any adjustment with needle jet on the top of your carb? You need to richened mid-range if your run 18-19's. | |

| I agree, you need to lift the needle in the diaphram, another trick that works good on snorkeled 660s is to drill out the vacum hole in the bottom of the diaphram slider to 1/8 in, It allows the slider to open quicker and with less vacum. | |

| It's not really a matter of getting too much air, as your not getting fuel when you need it. | |

| My rhino burps through carb and seems to be running a little hot also. I see were he asked about covering part of intake. Would it hurt anything if i covered half of my intake opening ? When i did this with my hand while testing it seemed to run alot better. | |

You can tune the idle/off-idle mixture by blocking air flow. But, keep in mind that it will equally restrict air flow at the upper midrange and WOT range of operation. I dare say you would not be at all happy with the 'solution'. Best to properly tune the mixture for the airflow that you have at the lower throttle range. Each portion of the carb operating range is tweaked with different orifices, with some overlap involved.

| Rob1, My recomendation would be a complete deep cleaning of the Carb, It only takes one pasage way to get clogged for it to run like shit. | |

| it runs ok once its warmed up . Just burps alot while warming up and seems to take longer than what i think it should to warm up. I took all the jets out sprayed all down and blew air through it. Didnt soak it though. | |

| Cough or burp during the warm up. U should try 1/2 out on a/f screw. If it doesn't help put it back where u had it and. And go up a pilot jet | |

If it happening only during warmup, you probably need to experiment with 'choke' setting at the dashboard. The choke knob will need to be gradually pushed in as it warms up, so it is not a 'set it and walk away' thing. The 'choke' is actually a fuel enrichment valve that you are opening up within the carburetor idle circuit. So you pull the knob out all the way, it runs very rich for the inital cold start. As it gets close to fully warmed up, you want that knob pushed all the way in. In between, the setting is 'varied as needed'. Make your judgments regarding idle mixture only with that knob all the way in and the engine fully warmed up, or you will look like that dog chasing its tail.

| Thanks guys for all your help ! I tore the carb down soaked and cleaned it also adjusted the af screw to 3/4 turn out and this thing runs like a raped ape. I found that black goop had built up in the little holes in bottom of main passage of carb under the butterfly. She is good to go . | |

| I think that in late 06 to 07 they put two holes in the slider to help open the diaphram quicker, I would try one hole at a time untill you get the throttle responce your trying for. | |

| My 07 has 2 holes and drilled both of them when I was trying to snorkel. Ended up NOT snorkeling, but it runs great.
Thought about getting a new diaphragm since I didn't snorkel.
Thoughts ?
Runs good and great throttle response !
