700 rhino top speed?

hi guys, i have a 700 rhino that i am working on right now. the ownrer says it used to go faster. it will get to 40mph and hit the rev limiter. it is bone stock performance wise. it has big tires they are 26x10 on front and 26x12 on rear. it also has a cage and rear seat.

is 40mph where it should be hitting the rev limiter? or is something wrong?

i have pulled the primary clutch and re greased and checked everything out. i also replaced the belt.

before i did the work it was reving out at 37 now i am getting 40.

40-41 is right...with our sheave you can get more

my 09 will 700 will only do 38,

needs serviced and a belt most likely...

A worn belt and or dirty sheaves will kill top speed. There are other thing that can cause it, but this is the most common.

ok, thanks guys i thought 40 sounded right without sheave weights and a cdi box.

i did service the primary and put on a new belt. just wanted to make sure wet clutch or something else isnt holding it back.

The wet clutch will show more in acceleration with slippage. Sounds about right thought. My 660 hits 52 on flat ground with a cdi and a sheave. Its well worth the money. Call James

me and sugarbear just serviced both sheaves and new belt...... because I just got it and it was acting sluggish, wouldn't break 35 before I serviced it, it had a flipped weight also

40-41  on flat ground with mine. Gold spring and not sure on weight size. Also a dynatek cdi. I don't hear the rev limiter though. Not sure. Sound ok or slow?  Seems like it should do more.

JBS sheave, 16's, gold spring, msd......50-51 consistently

My 07 720 with jbs sheave and dynatek cdi with 14 gram ods and orange spring 25'' tires will hit 55-60 wide open.

Mine is bangin the rev-limiter at 65 , with Todd's sheave , and tri-fire ignition setup !

hit 42 going up hill before bouncing off the rev limiter

Mine is a 13 and it revs out at 45 with stock 25s or with 30s

Sorry about your bad luck Mike, but you will be hitting 50+ in know time.

Got it fixed and ran right up to 50.  Nice having a little top end to play with.

I hit he rev limiter at 61 consistently.

Generally, a Rhino 700 will hit about 61MPH with a few mods and a 8000RPM redline.

Now with the built motors and such, it's all about how fast you get to that speed and under what conditions you can get that speed (safely). A stock-ish motor might need a slight downhill and/or a lighter weight rig with no windshield, big bumpers. etc to hit 60. A strong motor like James' or Teddy's will cruise up to top speed with bigger tires, two people, gear in the bed... you get the idea.

My motor is somewhere in between those two ranges. It will hit 60MPH with 26" tires on pavement with two people, a stock roof, and a winch. But it takes a few tenths of a mile to get there. If there's a headwind, it might only do 55MPH. If I put my 30" tires on, it'll do 60MPH but it takes even a little longer to get there and the conditions better be fairly calm.

The point is, the Rhino isn't really made to run higher speeds for long distances anyway. I've run mine at 50-60MPH for about 12 miles on the back roads. Every time I do this, the rear diff pukes a few ounces of the oil out the vent. That diff gets crazy hot at those extended speeds.

Bottom line, I don't worry about the top speed too much.
That doesn't mean it's not fun... lol
