| so I thought my one way was toast cause my engine braking seemed like it was almost nonexistent, plus I wanted to slug the wet clutch and put a new spring in. so I tore into it tonight and saw that my secondary wasn't wasn't returning the belt to the top of clutch by a long ways. I would say that the top of the belt was half inch down from the lip of the sheaves.
So problem number 1: is that a weak spring not returning it all the way or binding up? I have the friction washers and new spring to put in, but just wanting to make sure that it will fix it and that i get everything fixed before I button it back up.
problem number 2: I'm not completely sure about the one way bearing. cause of the secondary keeping the belt so far down in the sheave the engine braking could've been working fine, just that is was in such a high ratio it seemed like it wasn't doing much. it worked fine before I changed belts and when I put the cover on and grab the shaft by hand I can turn it counter clockwise freely and not clockwise.
thats all for now, the drum seemed to have slight wear, but i think its completely reuseable, as for the pads I don't know yet as I ran out of time tonight and will finish pulling the pack off in the morning.

| well I am on the way back together, just need to pick up some grease for the primary in the morning, and so I can run it and check to make sure the secondary will return the belt all the way.
If it doesn't could the rollers in the helix be hanging up? are rhino's prone to having any problems in the secondary like that?

| how many miles? is it a stock belt? was the old belt worn or frayed or oily/greasy? is there any scoring in the sheaves? was there any grease in the shaft of the secondary? (did it move freely?) a few pictures might help diagnose the problem if you can post them. there's a few videos in the How To section about Primary/Secondary installs | |

(did it move freely?) a few pictures might help diagnose the problem if you can post them. there's a few videos in the How To section about Primary/Secondary installs 1700 miles on the bike, i just went and checked it but my records show higher mileage. even though the hour meter seems to be where it should be since I did the last service new stock belt. only a couple hundred miles on it. the old belt was just worn slightly, no frays or oil/grease on it. Since I was not the original owner and kinda knowing the first owners were fairly hard on the machine, or just lousy drivers, I did it for peace of mind. no scoring in the sheaves at all. they are perfect. there is grease in between the seals with the seals good and it rotates what I thought was fairly freely, not as good as a roller clutch(which I'm used to) but didn't seem to hang up at all. I went to post pictures and phone battery was too low so thats a no go for now.

| ok so got it back together and I am going to have to go with that the stock spring was worn out or it was binding up. after having the secondary apart, it wasn't binding up with the spring off and with new spring and friction washers the clutches are operating perfectly.
looking forward to getting out on it it. and the one way bearing was fine too.
