| Hi Guys,Last month, I installed team alba big bore 734cc with cp piston (11:1) and it works fine, no oil leaking no overheating lot of power everything is fine. Thursday morning, I went to the dunes and I was impressed by the amount of power obtained from this kit with Hotcams stage-3 was a great performance when I climb the dunes, I've enjoyed playing for a couple of hours. After that, I went to the flat desert routes but suddenly, I felt a loss of engine power, and I saw oil and smoke comes out of the Siphon break filter but the engine did not stop working and no overheating. Then, I decided to go back to my truck and load the rhino on the trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixXyuqJXpfYWhen I back to home, barely I could start the engine after many attempts. The next day, the engine not start completely (spins but not work).I checked the fuel pump ... No problem Replaced the spark plug ... New The spark ... Thick and blue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4Ly6VXnLAw I checked the timing ... No problem Valve clearance ... No problem I sprayed carburetor cleaner inside throttlebody ... not workYesterday, I decided to pull the engine head to see what happened inside. I found the thermostat stuck open. Pulled the head and I found the piston is broken!
pulled the cylinder I found scratches in intake side!
as well as the piston.

| i would use a uni from now on....check the drain on the intake to make sure its still there...and check for leaks...you will be able to see where it started....did you check ring gap when you installed | |

| thats not a normal looking cylinder wall. It looks like the coating has come off the wall. Normal wall scoreing doesnt have the "chunks/flakes" like that. it would just look like ground metal. I would be questioning the quality of that cylinder right there. Even if the ring/piston was the problem the cylinder shouldnt flake like that | |

Thanks chuddly, Do you think the problem due to the poor quality of the cylinder?

| Looks like the nikasil went bad or wasn't coated correctly. I had to many of those things come from crappy companies and never hold up. That's why I wish they would have never came up with nik cylinders. They junk. | |

Thanks chuddly,
Do you think the problem due to the poor quality of the cylinder? I would say its a poor quality cylinder. I cant say if ALL of their cylinders are bad...maybe they had a bad batch or this one got through quality or maybe they just spot check for quality. But i can tell you I have seen ALOT of failed engines before and this one isnt the norm. In my opinion (just my opinion) It looks like the coating on the cylinder let loose first and then CAUSED the piston damage. Not that the piston chipped then caused the cylinder to rough up. Here is a picture of what it would NORMALLY look like notice no coating missing. This picture above i would call "moderate" scoring. I have seen MUCH MUCH worse than that. I would give the company that sold you the cylinder a call and start raising cain on it.

| Sent the last batch to Falicon to have bored & re-plated like every other time but when these showed back up they had been bored & sleeved without any notification that was how they were gonna be. We've never run a 700 with a sleeve before James is gonna see if Nate can tell us anything about them or if he's ran them on a 700 before. | |
