| Here is my windshield mod. Pretty basic and CHEAP ! I started out with a factory full windshield. I first cut about 8 inches off the bottom. Then I bolted a piece of angle iron on it for support. Next I bolted a piece of angle on the bottom part that I cut off. This allows for bolting the 2 pieces back together. Later I added 2 vents, that I can open or close from the inside. Here is what it looks like all bolted up. With it all bolted up and vents closed it is great for colder weather. When You have one of those days when it starts out cold and warms through the day, You can simply open the vents. The vents blow on me about chest high. You also have the option of opening either or both for when SHE is cold and I'm hot. If it really warms, You can pull the bottom part completely off. I use a bolt and wing nut through the angle iron so that I can take them apart on the trail. Lastly, I put 2 studs with wing nuts through the roof to have a place to store it without it getting all scratched up. Hope this helps somebody. If You have an idea to make it better, post it up for everyone to share ! | |

| Nice, I like it. I especially like the storage at the rear! The only nit that I have to pick is that the HRRF.com logo is upside-down when in the rear. Perhaps if you flip it side for side it will also read backwards like the ECNALUBMA on the front of an emergency vehicle | |

| Should be able to find vents at any lumber / hardware store. They are vents for home central heat and air. There are a ton of different kinds of vents out there, but I wanted something inexpensive !
Oh and I painted them black.

| Nice mod. I have a windshield I bought used and never put on. I need to cut it down to work with my cage so when I do I think I'll do this mod at the same time. | |

| Firefighter,
Do the vents keep the dust from coming in from the rear?

Steve Steve, think of it as positive pressure ventilation. The more air coming in from the front, the less that will will be coming in the back door. It doesn't stop all the dust, but it sure helps.

| Thats what I was thinking. Thats a pretty good idea. After I get my winch that will be the next thing I get. Not sure which way I'll go though. Folding seems pretty decent especially for the summer time.

Now, keeping that dust out is a mighty big task. I've made a life's work of tackling that beastie A windshield definitely makes it worse. Venting up front makes it better, considering the windshield. Take a peek at this thread, if you have not already. The thread is a work in progress, but it might give you some ideas to ponder over. https://hotrodrhinoforums.forumotion.com/t933-dealing-with-the-dust-devil-behind-you

So do I. It takes stuff in the back and the middle, as well. To breathe easily, that is.

| Maybe a small gap at the top of the rear window, very nice work and those vents are a nice piece of engineering.
