| I went and traded in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for a 2013 Ford F-150 crew cab 5.0 truck last so it will be an easier pull to WV for the October ride if I can make it. | |

| I traded my F250 in on a F150, kinda of downsizing. But the maintenance and mileagae are big improvements. The F150 tows surprisingly well for a half ton. You have to be more careful with the rear axle capacity and it tongue weight but for my uses the F150 is going to work real good. This is the new ride, 2011 F150 4x4 with the 5.0L and 3.73 gears. My wife has a F150 FX4 with the EcoBoost and 3.73 gears. The 5.0L vs 3.5L Eco wars are crazy online. I own one of both and in my opinion the 5.0L is more fun around town because it is just a punchy feeling V8. It tows pretty darn good, too. The 3.5L Eco feels slightly less punchy from a dig. If you boost launch it, then it will set you back in your seat like any modern diesel. It also tows with far fewer downshifts than my 5.0L | |

| dang, chris, i've got a gray one, too, but mine's 2-tone with silver. i really like the 6-speed auto and the long wheelbase on the expressway. makes for a comfy ride, and that big ole V8 pushes the AC til you have icicles hanging off the dash... anybody have any problems with axle wrap? when it's cold in the mornings i always have my steering wheel turned and when i take off there's like a slip in the rear diff. | |

| I did the e-locker bypass on my 2011, as they only allow the rear diff to be locked in 4WD. When I have my rear diff locked in 2WD, the rear axle wants to hop a bit in sand and grass at real low wheel speeds. But then I just mash the gas real hard and the rear tires spin more and problem solved. LoL!!! | |

| There are alot of changes afoot for the F-150,rumors are more aluminum along the lines of Atlas. Also being told at school that F-150 will be built on a F-250 frame and this makes room for the future F-100 just what I here at the company school, time will tell. | |

| Ford has much more success with the Ecoboost than they ever counted on ,selling more Ecoboost trucks than some brands hole fleet of engine choices. So Ford will probably offer more turbo charged trucks and cars with dual stage turbos or tandem systems. Because the of the very tough regulations coming its getting much harder to meet them fuel milage and emissions. Some new engines talked about were the new Nano family of engines about 2.6-2.7,3.0 litres turbocharged the target HP 300-315. There is talk of a diesel of about 5.0 L. Ford will have a new 3.2 L diesel in the Transits the replacement for the Econoline. I heard a while back that 3.7 L may be replaced by the 3.0 and may also be the replacement for the 5.0 L, they are thinking of the Mustang and F-150 @300-315 HP. Word is the 6.2 L will be gone soon with the 5.0 L. Ford is going turbo others are going variable cylinder displacement. | |

http://www.f150forum.com/f38/ford-f-150-ecoboost-problems-limp-mode-many-other-issues-157704/ i know what you mean. i heard they had turbo "lag" issues, but nothing like that. i went to the dealer about my "slip yoke" problem and the service manager looked at me like i was from mars. he gave the all-to-familiar "i never heard of that before" so i asked him if he heard about the TSB, and the fact that the problem was all over the internet. "oh yeah, that one." just another bold faced lie... had a problem with the wife's '08 Enclave sunroof leaking, too. same scenario. "i never heard of that before." they just don't seem to care about service after the sale anymore. must not be getting factory support or something. i know there's a hell of a lot of cars sitting around on the lots, though! sad to say it, but i'm seriously thinking about going toyota next time around just to get better service (maybe) | |

| I was worried about the longevity of the Ecoboost motors so I bought the 5.0, I have had 4 brand new vehicles in 18 months so I probably wouldn't keep one past the 60k mile warranty but on the off chance I did I didn't want to have issues with paying for repairs on the turbo motor. | |

| Our EcoBoost truck has 50,000 miles on it with zero problems. I, too, was worried about the "new release" kinds of issues but none have appeared for us. The truck is a awesome half ton. We have no regrets. For those of you interested in modding the electronic locking rear differential in an 2011 truck, I will post the PM I sent to 08Rhino450SE: If you have a 2011 Ford F150 with the "4x4 Off Road package" or the "FX4" package, then you know that the rear diff can only be locked in 4WD. Newer 2012+ trucks with the electronic locking differential can be locked in 2WD, as could all years of the Ford Raptor. The 2011 trucks can utilize the electronic locking rear differential with all OEM parts for about $175. To do so, you need the 2011 Ford F150 SVT Raptor transfer case control module (TCCM) and the dashboard 4WD rotary shift knob that allows you pull the know out in the 2WD position. The TCCM must be out of the 2011 Raptor. No other TCCM will work properly. Believe me, I tried the less expensive 2012 F150 TCCM from a FX4, a truck that can engage the e-locker in 2WD stock, and that TCCM would not let the transfer case of my truck shift into 4x4 Low Range. The locker did function in 2WD and 4WD, however. You must use the TCCM out of the 2011 Ford Raptor. Use this Ford part number: BL3Z7E453D (TM239) It costs $129.73 through TASCA. For the 4WD rotary switch, use this Ford part number: AL3Z14B166B AIt cost $17.24 through TASCA. The locker works up to about 30MPH, and then will automatically disengage but then automatically reengage when you slow back down to about 25mph. I really like this mod. While the one wheel spin control programming in the 2011+ trucks is good at transferring power to a slipping tire, it still needs to slip... The locker mechanically locks the rear diff for useful things like towing in slick conditions that do not require 4WD and for less useful things like goofing off in the dirt. Once you have the TCCM and switch installed, everything is just like stock. The switch illuminates to indicate the rear axle is locked: The dash screen will indicate the locked axle, in 2WD: And just so that you can see it does, in fact, work in 4WD Low Range: If you have a 2010 F150, you can still do this mod but you will need a different TCCM. | |

| Thanks guys!!! It is pretty beast. It's an Arizona truck, so never seen snow. I need to get it undercoated before I see any rust and want to cry. Has 193,800 on the 460, fires right up and drives like a champ. Now if only I can convince the wife to let me buy a toy hauler. Hmmmmmm. | |
